Formula behind the numbers
Litres needed = distance ÷ mileage. Total fuel cost = litres × price per litre. Per person = total ÷ split count. The calculator assumes steady highway driving; city traffic and idling burn extra fuel not modelled here.
Worked example: Delhi to Rishikesh and back
A hatchback carries four friends. One-way distance is 240 km, round trip 480 km. Loaded mileage on NH58 is 15 km/l. Petrol costs ₹105/litre at the Delhi pump. All four share fuel equally.
